Polymer Coated Urea (PCU) 42-0-0 Product Description

Raison Chemical —— Polymer Coated Urea (PCU 42-0-0) is a premium next-generation controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer engineered for precision nutrient delivery. Unlike sulfur-coated urea that relies on microbial degradation, PCU uses a uniform, eco-friendly polymer membrane to regulate nitrogen release via moisture diffusion and temperature-driven kinetics — delivering stable, predictable nutrition for 3–12 months regardless of soil microbial activity. With 42% plant-available nitrogen and near-zero uncoated particle content, it outperforms conventional CRFs in release consistency, reduces nitrogen loss by up to 70%, and eliminates the need for multiple side-dressings. It is the gold standard for high-value horticulture, turf management, perennial crops, and sustainable agriculture systems.

Key Benefits of Raison PCU 42-0-0

  • Stable, Predictable Release (Independent of Soil Biology): Unlike sulfur-coated urea that relies on microbial degradation of the sulfur layer, PCU uses a physical polymer membrane to control release via moisture diffusion. Performance is consistent across all soil types, including low-microbial, alkaline, and cold soils where SCU fails.
  • Ultra-Low Nitrogen Loss: With ≤10% uncoated particles, PCU reduces nitrogen loss from volatilization, leaching, and denitrification by up to 70% compared to conventional urea. This cuts fertilizer waste and minimizes groundwater contamination.
  • Extended Release Options (3–12 Months): Customizable coating thickness allows matching nutrient release to crop growing cycles — from short-season vegetables (3-month release) to perennial fruits/turf (12-month release). One application replaces 2–4 side-dressings, saving labor and fuel costs.
  • Zero Seedling Burn Risk: The polymer membrane limits initial nitrogen release to near-zero levels, making PCU safe for seed-contact applications (pop-up fertilizers) and sensitive crops like blueberries, strawberries, and ornamentals.
  • Eco-Friendly Biodegradable Coating: The polymer membrane meets EU EN 13432 and US ASTM D5511 biodegradability standards, breaking down into harmless CO₂ and water within 24 months of soil burial. No microplastic residues remain.
  • Neutral pH for Soil Health: With a pH of 6.0–7.5, PCU does not acidify or alkalize soil over time, making it suitable for pH-sensitive crops and long-term cultivation systems.
  • Export-Compliant Quality: Manufactured under ISO 9001 controls, every batch ships with full SGS/CIQ inspection, EN 13432 biodegradability reports, and OMRI certification (optional) for organic-compliant markets.

Application Methods
Broadcasting (Pre-Plant): Apply uniformly across the soil surface using calibrated spreaders. For conventional tillage, incorporate into the top 5–10 cm of soil to initiate moisture contact with the polymer membrane. In no-till systems, apply immediately before rainfall (>10mm) or irrigation. Ideal for field crops, turf, and orchard floor management.
Band Placement / Starter Application: Place 2–5 cm beside and below the seed row for row crops, or in planting holes for transplants. PCU’s ultra-low initial release makes it safe for close seed contact — no risk of ammonium toxicity or seedling burn.
Top-Dressing for Perennial Crops: For fruit trees, berries, grapes, and turf, apply once at the start of the growing season. The 6–12 month release profile provides steady nutrition without repeated applications. For golf courses, apply 1–2 times annually depending on grass type and climate.
Container / Potting Mixes: Blend PCU into potting media at 0.5–1.5 kg per m³ of mix for nursery stock, ornamental flowers, and greenhouse vegetables. The controlled release eliminates the need for weekly liquid feeding, reducing labor and runoff.
Fertigation (Limited Use): PCU granules are
NOT RECOMMENDED for drip or micro-sprinkler systems — granules will clog emitters and filters. For flood irrigation or pivot systems with drop tubes, broadcast granules onto the soil surface and wash into the profile with moving water.
Foliar Spray: STRICTLY PROHIBITED. PCU is formulated exclusively for soil application. The polymer coating and urea core will not dissolve in spray tanks, causing severe equipment clogging and irreversible leaf burn.
Precautions & Best Practices
Avoid Membrane Damage: Do not crush, grind, or aggressively handle PCU granules — damaged membranes cause uncontrolled “burst release” of nitrogen, leading to crop burn. Handle bags gently during transport and application.
Temperature Sensitivity: Release rates increase by ~10% for every 5°C rise in soil temperature above 15°C. Adjust application rates downward for hot-climate crops, or select longer-duration coatings to compensate.
Soil Moisture Requirement: Moisture must penetrate the polymer membrane to initiate release. In soils with <40% field capacity, release will be negligible. Ensure adequate pre-application irrigation or time application before forecast rainfall.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse with relative humidity <70%. Stack bags on wooden pallets (max 10 layers high) to prevent ground moisture wicking. Keep bags sealed until use — prolonged exposure to high humidity can prematurely degrade the polymer coating.
Mixing Compatibility: Physically compatible with most granular fertilizers (MAP, DAP, potash, TSP). Do not mix with strong alkalis (lime, calcium nitrate) — high pH can degrade the polymer membrane. Avoid excessive mechanical blending that could damage granules.
Safety: Wear nitrile gloves and a dust mask during handling to avoid skin irritation and inhalation of fine particles. Wash exposed skin thoroughly after use. Store away from food, feed, and ignition sources.

A: We focus on two core categories:

  • Agricultural fertilizers: Urea (46% N, prilled/granular), NPK compound fertilizers, Potassium Nitrate (technical/agri grade) and related potash/blended fertilizers.

  • Industrial & hazardous chemicals: organic peroxides/initiators (MEKP, BPO, etc.), corrosive chemicals (e.g. Caustic Soda flakes/liquid, acids), and associated inorganic salts/industrial materials.

We position ourselves as an integrated supplier covering sourcing, quality check, repacking/labeling, warehousing coordination and export documentation.

Q: How do you guarantee compliance and smooth customs clearance?

A: Compliance is non-negotiable in our segment. For each shipment we can prepare the standard export document set required by most importers:

  • COA / MSDS(SDS) per batch

  • Certificate of Origin

  • Commercial Invoice / Packing List

  • When needed: SGS/third-party inspection, quantity & quality reports, and additional certificates (depending on destination & product)

For hazardous goods (DG), we work within the required DG framework: proper UN marking, DG declarations, and DG-class aware logistics booking from Qingdao/Shanghai/Tianjin.

A: Yes—KNO₃ is part of our handled range, but we treat it as what it is: a 5.1 oxidizer and a controlled/regulated item in many jurisdictions. We only offer it when the inquiry matches a lawful end-use and the buyer can work with proper DG procedures (correct documentation, compliant packaging, and DG-capable carriers). If you are unsure about your local import permit/license path, tell us your country & HS code requirement and we’ll align the paperwork accordingly.

A: Yes. Common options include 25 kg / 50 kg PP woven + PE inner, and FIBC/Jumbo bags (500/1000 kg). We can arrange OEM bag printing (your logo, multi-language labels, lot/batch info). For hazardous items, any “custom pack” must still respect DG/UN packaging rules—so we’ll confirm which artwork/labels are feasible before production.

A: After deposit & artwork confirmation (if any), typical windows are roughly:

  • In-stock / spot arrangements: 7–15 days to readiness

  • Made-to-order / special specs / OEM bags: 15–30 days (depends on spec, inspection, DG queue)

Main export gateways: Qingdao / Shanghai / Tianjin, chosen by cargo type, container equipment and routing cost.

A: For most lines we quote against 1×20ft FCL as the practical MOQ (to keep unit cost & logistics sane). Smaller LCL lots are possible case-by-case—especially for DG where carriers/permits drive feasibility.

Payment norm: T/T (30% deposit + 70% against copy docs / BL); other terms discussed per client profile & inspected track record.

A: Yes. We can arrange small representative samples (often courier / local express) for your lab check. For hazardous items, sample channel must follow DG courier rules—sometimes that means higher cost or an alternative arrangement. Sample cost & freight are usually on buyer’s account; refundable against first container in many cases.
